CCIE Summer Salary Survey

Unlike a lot of other salary surveys out there, the Bridge Resourcing Summer Salary Survey is aimed purely at the CCIE community. That means it doesn’t dilute the focus of the study by including other kinds of networking professionals, it is specific to you and nobody else. We’re putting this together as a community resource, so the findings will be published back to the community once the data is all in. We’re looking to give the CCIE community a real look at the kind of pay and conditions that are out there and give us all some understanding about the variations that exist!

The survey is now well on underway, but as always, the more input we get from you, the more accurate and useful it becomes. Currently it is planned to run throughout the summer to the end of September, with the full results being published in the October flyer and in IT World. At this stage, we’ve only broken the numbers down by regions, but as the data grows we will be able to show values for individual countries and possibly even regional variations such as East/West coast in the USA. All data has been converted to US$ equivalents and focuses only on basic salary and cash bonuses, so does not factor in items such as cars, pensions, healthcare and so forth.

Base Salary and Renumeration

Global average base salary is $109,980 with 16% bonus, taking average remuneration globally to $126,432, and with an average of 11 years of networking experience across all responses. Already we are starting to see some interesting splits even within regions. Within North America for instance, CCIEs in the USA are receiving very similar salaries to their Canadian counterparts, but bonuses are higher which pushes total remuneration above Canadian levels. Within Europe, the UK is proving to have higher salary levels, but the rest of Europe are getting larger bonuses. The highest base salary so far recorded is $261,900.

Regional Variations

In terms of bonuses, it is worth noting that 38% of all respondents so far do not receive any bonus at all. To put this into perspective, in the USA 76% of respondents get some kind of bonus and in Europe the figure is 71%. The highest bonus so far recorded is over 160% of basic salary!
