Narbik's Bootcamp

by Lessaid Abderrahman

I would really be pleased to hear of your experience.

Hi, my name is Lessaid Abderrahman and I am glad to share my experience with ccieflyer readers! Lessaid and Narbik

Back in 1999, when I was playing with vlan on my 3500xl, I knew that one day, I will be a CCIE. It was far away from what I knew but I stick on my dream. CCIE is not just a number; it’s the journey that it makes it so interesting

What made you choose Narbik’s boot camp?

I start my CCIE quest in December 2007, and during my written study, digging on GroupStudy archives, and I notice that most of the people take a bootcamp to pass the CCIE. Here in France, we don’t really have CCIE training and we have to go abroad. As paying from my pocket, my requirements was the location, the price and the quality; it was like looking for an easy, very well paid and honest job. The CCIE’s blog community really shows how Narbik’s bootcamp was good and comparing to other vendors, he got another philosophy: how he teach, where he teach and for how much he teach (1800euro). Offering FREE retake was also a goodpoint for me. And finaly the quality of his Workbooks

What you had to do to prepare for it?

I start the “standard” path with CCNA and CCNP, and then the written in last august. For the bootcamp, I had a lot of Cisco press books! I use dynamips to lab with the best seller soup-to-nuts workbook, some switches at work and IPExpert Volume1 from the BLS Solution.

When you arrived what was first day like?

Lessaid in Narbik's Bootcamp I was late, I’ve been to the old center….! It was my first bootcamp, and I was excited to be a part of the group, composed mostly of CCIE Candidates, or some network nerds that implement dot1x over 1000 clients… :) but also just people wanted to improve network skills

How you feel about taking the lab now?

I didn’t know before the end of the bootcamp if I was prepared or Not. Now I am feel confident, Narbik made me confident! I Over the 5 days, I was feeling that I was not lost. I do understand the technology; I have to work hard to be prepared for the day. I will attend to a second bootcamp before the lab.

My plan was to pass the RS in Jan 2010, then Cisco release the v4 of the rs track and will be process in Oct, so I quickly change the date, to the mid of September.

4 month is short to prepare but not impossible.
