Inspire Awe: The Women of the CCIE Flyer
Welcome to the July issue of the CCIE Flyer. I am attempting to express my deepest appreciation to all of the women who I have met who in their lives have decided to make a positive impression on the next generation of women. In the CCIE Flyer Dan and I have had the pleasure of featuring a few of them and so my idea for a, “Not the CCIE Flyer Swimsuit Edition” was tossed out. I don’t think my idea to add humor to this topic would have shown the respect I really feel towards them all so, I will try to refrain while expressing my gratitude that these women are part of my network.
Earlier this year I was proud to be included in the introduction of the Network Academy in an all girls high school here in Delaware. I invited Eve Tahmincioglu (my muse and the CCIE Flyer’s Career Diva) and Diane Fasnacht CCIE #2355 (a personal friend) to join us for this event because I knew they represent the best kind of role models for the girls at Padua http://media.desu.edu/2009/07/padua-pandas-go-cisco/ they are featured in this short video.
Inspire Awe
These personal friends of mine do inspire awe. So does Rasha Aboelsoud a Network Academy instructor in Cairo. Her influence on young minds preparing for careers in networking makes her a true role model for the women who see her achievements and are inspired by what women can do, through her passion for networking and the drive to lift those up around her. When in Athens I met Ismini Arvaniti who is another enthusiastic and passionate supporter of young men and women on the road to becoming Cisco certified. Her influence on the young minds of women is incalculable and life changing.
Others? Heck yeah. CCIE Paula Pannuzzo in this issue was delighted to share her story so that other women could find some inspiration from her life experience. She is truly an accomplished woman who is living her dream and growing her influence throughout Jamaica. CCIE Sandra Salame who is the go to Voice professional in a world filled with anomalies when it comes to the treatment of women by the society she lives in.
I may joke about my relationship with Bouncy and how I am turning my back on her since CCIE women are more beautiful than her. My point is that after so many years of beauty pageants and female stars acting poorly I want everyone to know that these geeks these CCIEs are truly beautiful because where it counts they have developed themselves in to real influential members of the IT world.
We would all be best served by these true beauties influencing the women of tomorrow, rather than the ones we see in the news and tabloids every day. Admit it, as a parent of a girl would you rather she mimic Paris Hilton, or one of these women featured in the pages of the CCIE Flyer this month?
To them all I say thanks!
