CCIE v4.0 Rumors for 2010 and some Predictions

So some say no one will pass the CCIE RS in 2010 (quoting Narbik) but he said he was just kidding...

So far none have passed in 2009.

Some say it will just take the training vendors "time" to get to know the new exam.

Huh!!!

WTF!!!

Really what changed?

The fact is nothing really changed.

OEQ - Ok - They are on the exam and were on the previous exam. The dumps for these are on every CCIE Candidate's screen today.

So CCIE candidates memorize 100-200 questions and they are mostly good to go.

The Troubleshooting portion is 11 questions and most of these 11 questions are well discussed by now. So they are not that bad and yet they kicked the teeth out of every candidate so far.

The Hands-On - People report passing or failing this section - depending on the Ego I suppose. So 5 routers and 4 switches. One Router less and the game gets "easier".

The total sum is that no one passes.

Some believe the CCIE training vendors are going to pull a rabbit from a hat.

The problem is the Training Vendors are still stumped on how to defeat the OEQ.

So they can't really help their students ace 4 questions more than they already have.

Then comes the troubleshooting section. Ouch! Not really a whole lot our hero's can infuse into a student here. It's a you got or you don't. The rumor is there are over 3000 scenarios in this exam's troubleshooting section and each student has only 2 hours to crack 11 tasks.

Now to the hands-on. Maurilio said this section would be reduced by 10 or so tasks. Laugh it up furballs... The fact appears to be that the number of tasks were reduced due to the fact they were consolidated.

Worse: The latest tales from the crypt are that one must score perfectly per section to pass the lab. Perfectly or else forfeit the points.

The result: In the first month of the CCIE v4.0 the CCIE Program lost 48 CCIE's.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention... There is a nasty rumor that appears to have teeth that Cisco is on the warpath is decertifying anyone for mostly any reason who violated the NDA... Pardon the pun: "No questions asked".

And the other rumor is that CCIE's who have rented certs are being hunted down and decertified as well. The interesting part is that some well-known trainers may well be on this list of the soon to be "de-CCIE'd"... Again a rumor. Look for the hot and sweaty trainers with the shaking coffee mug... they are easy to spot.

Oh yes - Since the OEQ are now preying on all CCIE Tracks, it is safe to say that the February numbers for CCIE's will see about 75-85 less CCIE's per month for the 2010 year - at least.

Anyway the positive side is we can expect the CCIE Salary Survey to be going through the roof.

The last rumor and horror story I have for you is the impending new CCIE recertification requirements may be changing in 2010. Look for the announcement.

When that occurs, I'd expect some 20,000 CCIE's to be reduced:

1. Negative 2000 - by the current attrition rates.
2. Negative 6000 - by the new recert requirements.

In 2011, there will only be about 12,000 CCIE's.
In 2012, there may only be about 4,000 CCIE's or less - reflective of the true number of true CCIE's worldwide.

Oh yes, due to the nature of the recert, all CCIE's who have not passed the lab in 2 calendar years will be required to recert using the new method.

The CCIE Written is expected to have a revamp for all tracks with no notice given. Why should it require a notice anyway?
