Welcome to the CCIE Flyer for April

by Eman

I LOVE MY JOB.

Really I have so much fun it might become illegal to do what I do. So don’t tell anybody I said so!

The CCIE Flyer has been enjoying a growing reader base as well as contributor pool. There are several great CCIEs and Future CCIEs who seem to enjoy this monthly exercise. For their support I am eternally grateful. Last month I began working closely with Narbik and made myself available to his students for career advice and this is working nicely. Helping fill seats in his CCIE classes has actually made the CCIE Flyer a revenue generating effort. Pretty soon I am going to have to pay myself for doing this.

In March I was especially excited to get to know the Egyptian Networkers. This is a group of CCIEs and future CCIEs that are organizing into a knowledge sharing virtual team basically.

I was hosted by these gentlemen for an evening of career and economic woe discussions. These are a very bright bunch of people and geeks everyone. The guys responsible for my first experience with Egyptian hospitality are pictured here with me. Munir (never smiles), Mohamed (Standing) and Wael (smiling and seated). They started my journey off with an escort to my hotel from the airport and then an evening of great Egyptian food in a mountaintop restaurant with a view of history. There was such a big turnout of CCIEs I had nearly half of the country’s CCIEs with me that evening.

But I would be remiss to forget to inform you that Sam Pit my friend from London made the trip especially memorable. In some of my business travels I see mostly hotels and meeting rooms. In Egypt she flew in from the coast of Egypt where she is a diving instructor, to make sure I saw the pyramids. Sam is my very dear friend and I will always remember her generosity in seeing me to the historic Cairo.

Even though neither one is a CCIE, still both Sam and Mo are near to my heart. Mo is Sam’s bo so don’t get any funny ideas about her!

Of course my son Bass asked me to travel with his doggy Ashley so here’s her picture with Sam’s traveling buddy Roo.

A serious trip for me that had a great bit of fun and discovery mixed in. The heart of my trip was shared with Cisco Academy Students and graduates. These young people are the future and for the brief time they shared their goals with me I cherish.

They all have a story to tell of hard work, struggle and dreams. We owe it to them to help, those of us headed for retirement soon. BE A MENTOR!

One final note about my friend the Libyan Hippie.

Thanks! Ibrahim and Abdel were my special friends from Libya. Ibrahim says he is a Libyan hippie and we had a blast discussing guitars and music we enjoy.

My brother Dan and I appreciate you reading the CCIE Flyer and the fun we have putting it together is a priceless gift from you, the readers! Without you we would probably still do it anyway, but knowing you are out there makes it better every month.
