Ok so I get this random call the other night from Eman asking (begging) me to write an article for the CCIEFLYER. He is carrying on and on about how important it would be to him and how much he respects my opinion. I finally caved in and agreed after he told me that the CCIEFLYER would cease to exist if I didn’t… Ok, ok, I may be bending the truth just a little bit. Alright, I am bending it a lot, It didn’t happen that way, it was more like he offered me the prestige opportunity, there was no begging involved.
The complete truth is that I am honored to have this opportunity. Over the past several months I have had the chance to interact with Mr. Conde and have really enjoyed it. (I am still trying to completely figure him out though.) The other night (the night of the alleged begging incident), I spent nearly two hours on the phone with Eman discussing the recruitment industry, Cisco, the SRS Program, CCIE Agent and Eman’s intriguing life experiences.
Talpro was given the opportunity to write an advertisement I mean article in the CCIEFLYER’s November 2008 issue. This time I wanted to make sure we were more in context with his site by providing some type of interesting, even funny content. The problem is that I am neither of these and thus writing in that context is extremely difficult. So I pick up the phone to call Eman at 8:00 PM for some advice. When the phone starts ringing I notice it sounds different, like I am making an international call. “Is he still in Cairo”, I ask myself. What time is it there? If its eight o’clock here it must be at least… hmmm, he is probably sleeping. I should probably hang up now before I wake him. So yes, Eman, the mysterious late night caller was I.
Still, I am pretty confident my purpose here is to talk about Cisco, the Strategic Recruitment Solution (SRS) and obviously Talpro. For anyone that missed us in the November issue, Talpro is the chosen provider of Staffing Vendor Management Services for Cisco’s SRS program. Talpro works with employers (in this case Channel Partners) to provide specialized recruiting and staffing agencies at reduced rates through an approved vendor list. For the SRS program those vendors were chosen by Cisco based primarily on criteria such as their experiences working with Cisco trained talent as well as their geographic reach across North America.
Working with Cisco and those who are part of the SRS program has been a wonderful experience for all of us at Talpro. Seeing how far Cisco is willing to go to empower not only their channel partners but also those who master their technologies is amazing! My IT career started me down a path as a software developer and later introduced me to human resources and recruitment. If it wasn’t for my passion for the marriage between HR and technology, this newly found Cisco culture might have me wishing I followed a path as a network engineer touting a few Cisco certifications.
This week Bill Philbrick from Cisco was in town and I had the opportunity to sit down with him and hear some of his ideas and visions about moving forward. The conversation highly intrigues me because Bill is speaking my language when he talks about utilizing technology to better deliver various recruitment functions. The end result is that the SRS program including the Cisco Partner Talent Network makes it even easier for the channel partners to connect with Cisco trained talent and vice versa.
The conversation between Eman and I the other night also included some discussions about how Talpro and Eman could work together to deliver a more unified service to the SRS program. Because of our different roles as vendors but equal end results, there is an opportunity to support one another and reduce redundant efforts. By working closer with Eman as well as Cisco and the other SRS vendors, we are again increasing the efficiencies of the program and producing a higher quality end product.
