Narbik V 2.0

by Eman

Occasionally while we are working on our daily grind we make friends with the people we deal with professionally. I have developed a strong respect for Narbik and I think we will become better friends as we work together to spread the gospel on CCIEs as a career track. I have discovered that Narbik travels to many more places than I do and my intention is to try and catch up to him. As far as individuals go who offer training internationally in support of preparing CCIEs not just for the lab but for life, he leads the pack. I was on the phone with him this past week. I was catching up with him and he shared a little secret with me. So I decided to tell everyone about it! I can keep secrets so don’t think I am a gab or anything but I am making him talk. So here are the notes from my interview with him.

Q: Narbik you have just returned to the USA from travels abroad. You have been working on a project you call Version two. What is version two?

A: Version 2.0 is by far the most complete and relevant work book and boot camp. We combined the existing “Advanced CCIE R&S Work Book” and “Boot Camp” work book (Which is what the students get when they attend our boot camp) and sell it as the new version 2.0. This will help students that can NOT attend the boot camp.

Currently 68 percent of our students that take our boot camp and our recommendations pass on their first attempt, the students can now purchase the new “Advanced CCIE R&S Work Book version 2.0” and they should have similar success.

BUT as far as the NEW boot camp 2.0, well I have added unbelievable amount of material to the new boot camp 2.0 work book and lectures. The idea is that if I add everything possible to my lectures and the new boot camp work book, then, what can they ask? They can NOT come up with a new command for the lab exam?

Q: So you have decided to launch Version Two with a guarantee I have never heard of in the industry. 80%?

A: Yes I know, look……this is what the students get when they attend our boot camps:

FREE retake:

If a student has a rack of routers and switches, he/she can attend the boot camp over and over again at NO cost, if the student does not have a rack of routers/switches, then we can rent one to the student for 200 dollars per week. Basically that is the ONLY cost. Some people say well… travel and hotel costs should also be added, well nowadays we have boot camps everywhere, LA, DC, Chicago, Wisconsin, NY, Dallas, Poland, Dubai, Amsterdam, London, Malaysia, Sydney and India. I think they can choose a location that is close.

Let’s say a student attends the boot camp and passes the lab, we all know that once we get our CCIE, we get involved in different projects and sometimes we forget some of the tools and creative ways of configuration and etc ….. With our FREE retake policy, they can and I recommend to retake the boot camp even if they passed the lab (Unless Cisco changes the lab, adding the open ended question is NOT considered a change), this helps the students polish their knowledge and stay current with their knowledge.

Q: Are you crazy? Maybe a few too many in flight meals! How can you back this up?

A: Crazy, sometimes I think I am, traveling to all these locations on my own and teaching all the classes on my own, and writing all the labs on my own.

But this is something that I truly LOVE. I love interacting and teaching students, especially when I see the lights go on which tells me that he/she got it.

Eman, we have 68 percent passing on their first attend today, this is without adding anything else, but the following is what I added to the lectures and the boot camp 2.0 material:

. New Visio drawing as a separate book

. New 200 + pages to the Multicasting section

. New redistribution section around 82 pages

.New switching section, RIPv2 (around 65 pages), Eigrp, OSPF BGP, IP-services, and huge QOS section (I call it they way it should have been done) what I mean is everything is verified and tested.

Personally, I am a visual and tactile learner, if I don’t see it and do it, it won’t stick and I won’t believe it. I took that same approach when I wrote these sections, especially the QOS section. Some people received a FREE sample of what it’s all about on Group Study. A new IPv6 section, security section and etc

I used to play soccer and every now and then when you kick the ball, the timing and everything is correct and the ball goes forever and it’s the greatest feeling. With this 2.0 Boot Camp this is how I feel, everything is correct, the timing is perfect and this kick is a goal, TRUST ME MATE.

This is what the students get when they attend the boot camp:

. Prep e-book “Soup-to-Nuts”

.The new “Advanced CCIE R&S 2.0”

.The new “Boot Camp 2.0” work book

. 30 days of FREE subscription to my Video on Demand series which should be ready for purchase by June.

Q: This is something I have never heard before. You really are turning up the pressure on for the other training companies. When do you launch?

A: My goal is NOT to put pressure on other vendors, but I hope it does. When vendors compete the students are the ones who benefit the most. We have to come up with a better and updated products and this is a win/win situation for the students and vendors.

The new Advanced CCIE R&S Work Book 2.0 and the new boot camp work book + the Video on Demand should be ready by late May.

Hey……… I hope this does NOT come across the wrong way, but some of these guys were in diapers when I was operating and installing mainframes, BUT DON’T LET THAT FOOL YOU, THE CLASS IS HIGH ENERGY boot camp, and none of my students get bored or doze off in the class.

Q: Are there any classes I can help put the word out for you that need filling a few more seats in April or May? Where and when?

A: In April and May, we will be in: Glendale (CA), Columbia Maryland, LONDON, and POLAND. The website is: www.MicronicsTraining.com.

Q: I know the economy has hurt some of the training companies since I speak to a few of them regularly. How are you feeling the impact of the economic mess we are living though?

A: I will be lying if I say I did not get affected, but the worst the economy gets the more people with CCIEs will shine. Remember that every dollar you make in a bad economy is equal to 2 dollars in a good economy. People are sick and tired of going to boot camps and have a lemon as an instructor. A lemon is an instructor that clicks on the projection, lectures and is unable to answer 99 percent of the questions, I hate to see a bad bulb in the projector, I don’t know what they would do?. People want to go to a boot camp that energizes them, picks them up, and teaches them what they need to learn to be able to achieve their goal/s, one of which is to get the 5 digits.

Our relationships with students start when the class ends, because this is when the students need help.

My students will NOT see a power point presentation, I don’t lecture, I teach.

Now Eman, you tell me if I keep the price the same, and increase the quality, why won’t you attend the boot camp? It’s a “sure” investment in yourself that no one can take away.

Q: The readers of the CCIE Flyer are fans of yours as well. What do you have to say to them about the future for CCIEs?

A: Thanks to all for your support. In the old days and I mean going back long time, completing your High school and a bachelor degree was a guarantee for a well paying job. But the times have changed and people are striving for even higher degrees so they can be more competitive.

The same holds true for CCIE. May be one is NOT enough, and you need to specialize in couple of areas, like SP, Voice and Storage.

In June we are launching our first Voice Foundation CCIE boot camps. These boot camps are for people who are planning to get their CCIE Voice Cert with no back ground experience. Our idea is to take some one with CCNA/CCNP knowledge and take them through two boot camps and help them pass their CCIE Voice.

The first boot camp “CCIE Voice Foundation” combines 10 Voice classes into one, and by attending this boot camp, not only the students can get their CCNA Voice and CCVP but they now have the basic knowledge to take the “Advanced CCIE Voice” Boot Camp. This is a 14 days Boot Camp for $4500 dollars, and YES we do take CLCs. Just to describe where it starts from, The first lab is called “Out of the box”, this is when the students start installing the CallManager, connect the phones and make a call. Once that initial fear is gone, it gets ridiculously easy; hey it gets so easy even my Grandma can do it.

We will be having similar boot camps for other tracks soon.

Some people think that CCIE is just another cert, well…This is NOT true, it’s a “must have” cert if you are serious about what you are doing.

Thanks for your time I know you are a busy man. I look forward to our video calls with your classes and visits when in the US! Keep up the great work!
